This is a list of characters from the Star Fox series of video games, listed in order of introduction.

Star Fox Team

The current Star Fox team; from left to right- Slippy Toad, Fox McCloud, Falco Lombardi, and Krystal from Star Fox: Assault

The Star Fox team is a group of mercenaries hired by General Pepper and includes the main protagonists of the series. The team is headed by Fox McCloud. Star Fox 64 fills in the background of the team; at its founding, it was composed of James McCloud, Peppy Hare, and Pigma Dengar. Peppy later retires from active flight duty at the end of Star Fox: Assault, and was more or less replaced by Krystal, Fox's love interest. The team's primary aircraft is the Arwing, their land craft is the Landmaster, and the team's mothership is known as the Great Fox. Their current team is made up of Fox McCloud, Falco Lombardi, Krystal, and Slippy Toad.

Fox McCloud

Fox McCloud (フォックス・マクラウド, Fokkusu Makuraudo) is the main character of the Star Fox series, and leader of the Star Fox team since his father, James McCloud, went missing after his capture by Andross. When he heard about his father's death, he dropped out of the Cornerian Air Force. At the start of the series, Fox was young and still learning under the training of Peppy Hare, his father's friend and wingmate. He has since become an expert pilot, and has repeatedly brought tranquility to the Lylat System. Fox is skilled in both air and ground based attacking, as seen in Star Fox: Assault.

Krystal is much like Princess Peach is to Mario. This friendship/relationship develops in Star Fox Adventures, is expanded on briefly in Star Fox: Assault, and turns rocky in Star Fox Command, although in some endings they fall in love again and she rejoins the team, some involve Krystal going to Star Wolf (mainly to Panther), and some involve her completely leaving Lylat and from Fox and Panther. In one ending, she and Fox get married and have a son named Marcus.

Fox is also in the Super Smash Bros. series as a playable character. He has appeared in all Super Smash Bros. games to date.

Falco Lombardi

Falco Lombardi (ファルコ・ランバルディ, Faruko Ranbarudi) is an expert pilot and a friend of Fox. Falco resembles a falcon, and shares his first name with the genus of falcons. Falco is voiced by Hisao Egawa in the Japanese versions of the series, Bill Johns in the English version of Star Fox 64, Ben Cullum in Star Fox Adventures & Super Smash Bros. Melee, Mike Madeoy in Star Fox: Assault, and Dex Manley in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Falco often joins and leaves the Star Fox team throughout the series of games and is seen as somewhat of a partner to Fox as they are very close. After Star Fox 64, Falco leaves the team, because of boredom and tiredness (though also because of the events of Star Fox: Farewell, Beloved Falco; see below), but returns at the end of Star Fox Adventures. During the final battle against Andross in Adventures, Falco comes to Fox's rescue. Leon Powalski of the Star Wolf team is considered to be his rival.

His long absence from the team is chronicled in the Nintendo comic Star Fox: Farewell, Beloved Falco, which was bundled with Star Fox Adventures in Japan. ^{[citation needed]} In this comic Falco gets a call for help from Katt so he heads out, with Fox following soon after. At the end of the comic Falco decides to go solo for awhile and Fox goes back to the rest of the team without him. Falco has also appeared in Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Smash Bros. Brawl as a playable character.

Peppy Hare

Peppy Hare (ペッピー・ヘア, Peppī Hea) is a member of the original Star Fox team, with leader James McCloud and wingmate Pigma Dengar. After Pigma's betrayal and James' capture, Peppy narrowly escapes to return to Corneria to inform Fox McCloud of his father's fate. Ever since then, Peppy serves as Fox's mentor and frequently gives Fox instructions and advice throughout the course of the games. One of Peppy's infamous phrases from Star Fox 64, "Do a barrel roll!", has become a popular internet phenomenon, and is spoken on several internet forums.

According to Star Fox Command, he has a daughter, Lucy, and is the widower of his wife, Vivian. He eventually retires from flight duty, taking up a post in the Great Fox. Also according to Command, Peppy is eventually made General of the Cornerian army, after Pepper grows ill.

Peppy has been voiced by Tomohisa Asō in the Japanese versions, Isaac Marshall in the English version of Star Fox 64, Chris Seavor in Star Fox Adventures and the English version of Super Smash Bros. Melee, Henry Dardenne in the English version of Assault, and Dex Manley in the English version of Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Slippy Toad

Slippy Toad (スリッピー・トード, Surippī Tōdo) is a longtime friend of Fox since their school days. Young, kind, and intelligent, he serves as the inventor and mechanic of the team. Slippy attended Cornerian Academy, specializing in engineering. Slippy's father, Beltino Toad, serves as the director of Engineering at Space Dynamics Co. Ltd., and later serves the Research Director for the Cornerian Defense Forces. Beltino invents and constructs many inventions for the team, including the Blue Marine and the Landmaster. After the Aparoid race is destroyed in Star Fox: Assault, he temporarily withdraws from the Star Fox team. However, when Fox needs backup in Star Fox Command, he comes to his assistance again. He is currently engaged to a frog named Amanda, and in two endings in Star Fox Command they have children together. Slippy Toad has a habit of falling prey to enemy pilots, and as such calls upon the player's attention at any inconvenient moment for assistance. In both Star Fox 64 and Star Fox Assault, the player needs to save Slippy within the first few seconds of the first mission.

Slippy makes a cameo appearance in Super Smash Bros. Brawl as one of Solid Snake's contacts on his Codec (via hacked transmission) whenever Snake faces Falco and sometimes a contact for Wolf, Falcon, or Fox with a taunt on the Star Fox battlefield. He gives advice to Snake about Falco.

He is voiced by Kyouko Tonguu in the Japanese version of the series, Lyssa Browne in the English version of Star Fox 64, Chris Seavor in Star Fox Adventures and Super Smash Bros. Melee, and Mike McAuliffe in Star Fox: Assault and Super Smash Bros Brawl.

Krystal

Krystal (クリスタル, Kurisutaru) is the possible sole survivor of her doomed home planet, Cerinia. Krystal is calm and mild mannered. She makes her first appearance in the series in the early concept Dinosaur Planet and then Star Fox Adventures, where in search of answers to her planet's destruction, and the death of her parents, she comes across a distress signal from Dinosaur Planet. Various different paths and endings are available in Star Fox Command; some show Krystal returning to Star Fox and to Fox himself, defecting to Star Wolf or the Cornerian Army, and even abandoning Lylat altogether due to public ridicule and adopting a new identity under the name Kursed, Fox (strangely enough) failing to recognize her when the two cross paths on a planet named "Kew" two years later. (In the Japanese version, however, she doesn't change her name). In Star Fox Assault, Krystal wears a blue catsuit, blue knee-high boots, a silver chain belt, two silver rings on her tail, white beads in her hair, and a silver diadem which has a turquoise jewel.

Krystal wears a thong and was originally designed to be a main character of Dinosaur Planet, before Nintendo turned the project into a Star Fox title. Her original design was that of a 16-year-old orphaned feline, who was raised by a wizard named Randorn. When Fox became the main character of Star Fox Adventures, Krystal was redesigned into her present form as a 19-year-old orphaned fox and her role in the game became less central. In the English version of the series, Krystal speaks Estuary English and is voiced by Estelle Ellis in Star Fox Adventures, and Alésia Glidewell in Star Fox Assault & Super Smash Bros. Brawl. In the Japanese version, Krystal is voiced by Aya Hara. She makes a cameo appearance in Super Smash Bros. Brawl as one of the contacts for Wolf, Falco, or Fox with a taunt on the Star Fox battlefield.

Other members

In the unreleased Star Fox 2, the characters Miyu (ミユ), a female lynx, and Fay (フェイ, Fei), a female dog, were added to the Star Fox team. Miyu and Fay did not return in any subsequent titles in the series. Fara Phoenix, a character from the Nintendo Power comic series, was a member of Star Fox in that series. She never was shown in any Star Fox game.

James McCloud

James McCloud (ジェームズ・マクラウド, Jēmuzu Makuraudo) is the proud father of Fox McCloud and the founder of the Star Fox team. On a scouting mission to Venom, he was betrayed by a former member of the Star Fox team, Pigma Dengar, and captured by the evil Andross. Though his true fate is ambiguous, he was presumed dead by most. He appears to Fox McCloud in Star Fox 64 to lead Fox out of Andross's exploding base, and in Star Fox Command during a final boss fight, James makes his first playable appearance piloting an Arwing like Peppy which resembles the Assault design. None of the other characters acknowledge him, and Fox questions if he is seeing things.

In the original Star Fox for SNES, it is stated that Fox's father, known as Fox McCloud Sr. in this story, was last seen flying into a black hole, and is presumed dead. However, the Black Hole is actually a warp point that was created by Andross' experiments.

In Star Fox: Assault, the Aparoid Queen is able to speak in James' voice, hinting that James may have been infected at one point. However, it is also possible that the Aparoid Queen can speak in the voices of close ones to her enemy.

James McCloud is also the name of a character in the F-Zero series. The instruction booklet for F-Zero X describes him as working to raise money for the debts of his mercenary organization, "Galaxy Dog". He also uses a racing car similar to an Arwing.

James was voiced by Mike West and Tomohisa Asō in Star Fox 64, and by Jim Walker and Hirohiko Kakegawa in Star Fox: Assault. The two English actors also voiced James' son Fox in their respective games.

ROB 64

ROB 64 (ナウス64, Nausu Rokujūyon, NUS64) is the robotic operator of Star Fox's mothership, the Great Fox. ROB's name may be a reference to the NES accessory R.O.B..^{[citation needed]} The 64 is derived from the console of his first appearance, the Nintendo 64. ROB's Japanese name, "NUS", stands for "Nintendo Ultra Sixty-four", the original name of the Nintendo 64 system, and is part of the serial number of all N64 components: the controller, for example, is NUS-005.^{[citation needed]}

ROB has the ability to completely control the Great Fox, piloting it, providing information to the team, and aiding them with items and vehicles. After the first Great Fox is destroyed in Assault, he returns in Star Fox Command, piloting the new version of the Great Fox. On some paths in the game, ROB joins Star Wolf when no "hero" character is available. ROB is voiced by Daisuke Sakaguchi in the Japanese version of Star Fox 64 and Yusuke Numata in the Japanese version of Star Fox: Assault. He is voiced by Dex Manley in the English version of Assault and by David Frederick White in the English version of Star Fox 64.

Tricky

Tricky (トリッキー, Torikkī) is the prince of the EarthWalker from the planet Sauria and serves as Fox's companion in Star Fox Adventures, in which Tricky performs tasks for Fox, such as digging or breathing fire, when fed GrubTubs (a mushroom-like food). He can open small caves and act as a digger, among other abilities. He is made an honorary Star Fox member by Fox at the end of Adventures. In his second appearance in Star Fox: Assault, Tricky has physically matured, and is now the king of the EarthWalker tribe. After Fox and Krystal save his kingdom from the Aparoids, he promises to help repair Sauria. He was voiced by Kevin Bayliss in Star Fox Adventures, and Chet Morgan in Star Fox: Assault. In the Japanese version of Star Fox: Assault, he is voiced by Hirohiko Kakegawa, who also voiced Beltino and James McCloud in the same game. Tricky also cameos in Super Smash Bros. Brawl as a collectible trophy. Tricky may a small nod to another Rare-made game, Diddy Kong Racing, a which had a dinosaur boss named Tricky the Triceratops.

Star Wolf Team

Star Wolf (スターウルフ, Sutā Urufu) is a team of mercenaries hired by Andross to eliminate the Star Fox team. They have since been working on their own as Star Fox's rival team, occasionally helping Star Fox in Star Fox: Assault. Their primary aircraft is the Wolfen. Though Star Wolf were planned to appear on the canceled Star Fox 2, they first appeared in Star Fox 64. They have appeared in every game except for the original Star Fox and Star Fox Adventures. Their current team is made up of Wolf O'Donnell, Leon Powalski, and Panther Caroso, while the original was composed of Wolf O'Donnell, Leon Powalski, Pigma Dengar, and Andrew Oikonny.

Wolf O'Donnell

Main article: Wolf O'Donnell

Wolf O'Donnell (ウルフ・オドネル, Urufu Odoneru) (sometimes called Lord O'Donnell) is a wolf and the leader of Star Wolf, and rival of Fox McCloud. Wolf's team is initially hired by Andross to take down the Star Fox team. The Star Wolf team ultimately fails their mission, causing Wolf to seek revenge for his own personal reasons.

Leon Powalski

Leon Powalski (レオン・ポワルスキー, Reon Powarusukī) is a member of the Star Wolf Team, and is the only member other than Wolf himself that has been on the team since its creation. Leon's past is unknown, but he most likely had some past rivalry with Falco Lombardi, whom he mainly concentrates on during dogfights in Star Fox 64 and taunts mercilessly with in Star Fox: Assault.

Leon's personality has changed noticeably since Star Fox 64. He has gone from a classy, competent pilot to a crazed, ruthless assassin who usually gives a deranged laugh after defeating a foe. His voice has also changed dramatically to suit this; originally, his tone was calm and sinister, but it has recently become high-pitched and maniacal.

Despite his ruthless swagger and love of the hunt, Leon loves to adorn his maniacal disposition to maintain his spot as the assassin on the Star Wolf Team. This shows that he is somewhat of a narcissist, and enjoys his feared reputation as the killer, as indicated from quotes: "Annoying Bird! I am the Great Leon!" (64) and "Who do you think I am ?!?" (Assault).

Oddly, his personality in Star Fox Command seems to contradict his cold-blooded image. It is implied that, beneath his facade, he has a soft spot for peace. This is hinted at in his profile in the Pilot Gallery and his rejoicing after defeating the Anglar Emperor because he claims that he will look forward to parades with flowers and other such niceties. This may imply that he may be a different person under the cold-blooded reputation he had earned throughout the series.

Leon has been voiced by Shinobu Satouchi in all Japanese versions of the games. In Star Fox 64, he and Wolf O'Donnell were voiced by Rick May; in Star Fox: Assault, he and Panther Caroso were voiced by David Scully. In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, he and Fox McCloud are voiced by Jim Walker.

In Star Fox Command, Leon has a customized ship called the Rainbow Delta, which may allude to his supposed soft spot or reference the fact that chameleons can change the hue of their scales into a rainbow of colors.

Leon resembles a Veiled or Yemen Chameleon

Pigma Dengar

Pigma Dengar (ピグマ・デンガー, Piguma Dengā) is one of the original members of the Star Fox team, and after he betrays the team to help Andross, causing the presumed death of James McCloud, he joins Star Wolf. He is a pig. He is an exceptionally greedy pirate who does not care who he hurts so long as he ends up with a large paycheck in the end. He also has an incredibly sadistic nature to him, as evidenced with his introduction quote from the Bolse level. When fighting Star Fox in Star Fox 64, he targets Peppy due to being previous teammates. Wolf O'Donnell later expels Pigma from Star Wolf due to his incredible greed and distrustful nature. Pigma attempts to control the Aparoids in Star Fox: Assault, but fails and later undergoes assimilation, which fuses him with a spacecraft. His spirit continues to live on in the form of a cube-shaped puzzle box cyborg after his body is destroyed. He serves as a boss in Star Fox Command; whether the player encounters him depends on certain decisions made during the game.

Pigma was voiced by the late Daisuke Gōri in Japan. In the English version of Star Fox: Assault, he is voiced by Lev Liberman. In the English version of Star Fox 64 he is voiced by David Frederick White. In the Japanese version of Star Fox 64, Pigma speaks in the Kansai dialect of Japan. His last name is a reference to when people that speak in Kansai end their sentences with "dengar".^{[citation needed]}

Andrew Oikonny

Andrew Oikonny (アンドリュー・オイッコニー, Andoryū Oikkonī) is the nephew of Andross. In Star Fox 64 he in an inexperienced pilot who flies for Star Wolf; he primarily targets Slippy, usually saying, "Stick to the pond, froggie." Sometime after Andross is killed, Oikonny leaves Star Wolf and plans to avenge his uncle's death. In Star Fox: Assault, Oikonny gathers Andross's remaining troops and forms a rebellion against the Cornerian Army. The Star Fox team tracks him down to the planet Fortuna, where his ship turns into a large likeness of himself, which resembles Andross' form. Star Fox's team shoots him down though, when a large aparoid appears. He returns in Star Fox Command, where he joins the Anglars and pilots the Death Crab. He attempts to once again get revenge on Fox and confronts him and his team in Fichina city. In the Japanese version of Star Fox 64, he is voiced by Daisuke Sakaguchi. In the Japanese version of Star Fox: Assault, he is voiced by Yūsuke Numata. In the English version of Star Fox 64 he is voiced by Bill Johns. According to the Official Star Fox 64 Player's Guide his favorite book is "The Apes of Wrath".

Panther Caroso

Panther Caroso, known as Panther Caluroso (パンサー・カルロッソ, Pansā Karurosso) in Japanese language versions, makes his first appearance as the newest member of Star Wolf in Star Fox: Assault. His signature symbol, which is on his Wolfen, is a red rose. Panther is quite conceited, often embarrassing those around him. He is also quite a flirt, considering himself a ladies' man. In the game, he attempts to flirt with Krystal several times, but she either ignores or rejects him depending on the circumstances. Panther appears again in Star Fox Command, where he attempts to begin a relationship with Krystal after she joins the Star Wolf team following her breakup with Fox, but ends shortly after when Fox travels to Katina to look for Krystal and get her to rejoin the team, which she does and destroys the Angler base with Star Fox. Shortly after its destruction, Fox apologizes to Krystal and they get back together, causing her to decide to rejoin Team Star Fox. He is voiced in Japanese by Tetsu Inada in both Star Fox: Assault and Super Smash Bros. Brawl, while his English voice actor in Star Fox: Assault is David Scully, and Dex Manley in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. In the English version of Command, Panther speaks in the third person, despite his normal speaking habits in Star Fox: Assault.

Other villains

Andross

Andross, as he appears in Star Fox 64

Andross, known as Andruf (アンドルフ, Andorufu) in Japanese language versions, is the most-often recurring villain of the Star Fox series, and the archenemy of the Star Fox team. He is the primary antagonist of Star Fox, Star Fox 64, and Star Fox Adventures. Andross was voiced by the late Daisuke Gōri in the Japanese versions, by Rick May in Star Fox 64 and by Duncan Botwood in Star Fox Adventures. Before the series, Andross was a scientist working for Corneria. His original intentions were pure and beneficial, he devoted most of his life finding ways to protect Corneria, however his work had convinced him that the only way for his planet to be protected was if he was to be the sole ruler, his lust for power drove him to the brink of madness. He often experimented with genetics using himself as a guinea-pig, and he eventually ended as a disembodied head with two floating hands. The increasing perversion of his experiments resulted in his unleashing of a deadly weapon upon his home world of Corneria. Subsequently banished for his crime to the waste planet, Venom, he built an army and plotted to dominate the Lylat System, his intention had now evolved from simply wanting to rule Corneria to destroying the entire Lylat system and re-building it in his name. Soon after, the original Star Fox team was sent to investigate, among the team was James McCloud (father of Fox), Pigma Dengar and Peppy Hare. The investigation ended when Pigma Dengar defects to Andross's side and sends his friends to Andross, resulting in the death of James McCloud. Andross then proclaims himself emperor of the Lylat System, and invades the neighboring worlds.

After a new Star Fox team is formed under Fox McCloud, they begin their mission to liberate the Lylat System from Andross. Upon arriving at Venom, Fox engages Andross in duel. Andross assumes the form of a gigantic brain due to the results of self experimentation, but Fox is able to defeat him. Andross then self-destructs, engulfing Fox in the explosion. The spirit of Fox's father, James, then appears and leads Fox out the exploding base to safety. Andross' spirit survives, and after a botched attempt at a revival on Titania, travels to Sauria, also known as Dinosaur Planet. Weakened, Andross takes refuge in Krazoa Palace, and uses the SharpClaw dinosaur clan to keep him alive, but does not succeed at revival. After manipulating their leader, General Scales, into trying to receive his power by collecting various artifacts infused with the spirits of the Krazoa and by imprisoning Krystal in the palace, he is able to generate through Krystal the energy from the Krazoa Spirits that Fox collects to restore himself back to full power, in an attempt to obliterate the entire Lylat System with the power of the Krazoa. Fox once again defeats him, after which Andross again self-destructs as the power of the Krazoa spirits leave him, and is destroyed. He reappears in Star Fox Command in the form of a spirit controlling a bio-weapon. Also, some dialogue between Zazan and Emperor Anglar in "Fox and Krystal" implied that the Anglar race was created by Andross. Andross appears in Super Smash Bros. Brawl as an Assist Trophy character, resembling his robotic, metallic creation from the first Star Fox game.

Andross appears in several different forms throughout the Star Fox series, the most common of which is a giant disembodied head with two floating hands. In the first game, he takes the form of a large metallic head that contains a cube covered in images of his face. In Star Fox 64 and Star Fox Adventures, the shell is a large version of his head, which contains an enlarged brain that can act and move on its own. The latter Andross is more demonic-looking than the other. Andross also bears a striking resemblance to Dr. Zaius from the film Planet of the Apes.

Captain Shears

Captain Shears (シールズ大佐, Shīruzu Taisa) appears in the manga Star Fox: Farewell, Beloved Falco, which came with the Japanese version of Star Fox Adventures. The manga explains what happens during the eight year gap between Star Fox 64 and Star Fox Adventures. Shears conducts his operations in a base on Titania. Working as a double agent, he tells the Star Fox team he and his group of scientists are planning to reconstruct Andross's research, claiming there might still be Venom soldiers on the planet. However, Katt Monroe does not trust him and tells Falco of Shears' plan, leading to a dogfight between Fox and Falco.

Afterwards, the Star Fox team and Katt's gang team up and learn Shears is not planning to reconstruct Andross' research, but to resurrect Andross himself. After hearing this, Fox storms into Shears' base, and enters the rejuvenation lab right after rescuing Slippy (Shears' henchmen, or rather, the Golas, kidnapped Slippy as well as the Landmaster when he was sent to investigate their motivations earlier) where Andross' revival is happening. Shears then boasts about his plan and attacks Fox with a sword, on a large, mutant boar. After fighting, Fox defeats Shears. However, Shears attempts to escape on his boar, only to be crushed under the weight of the newly constructed Andross.

General Scales

General Scales (スケール将軍, Sukēru Shōgun), voiced by John Silke, makes his appearance as the initial antagonist of Star Fox Adventures. Scales leads the SharpClaw tribe, which strives to be the ruling tribe of Sauria. After being rejected, Scales amasses an army of Sharpclaws, and breaks four pieces of the planet apart by removing the four SpellStones, his army occupying each chunk. Soon he discovers Andross, who promises him godlike power in return for capturing Krystal and the Krazoa Spirits. At the end of the game, Andross betrays Scales and relinquishes the last Krazoa spirit from Scales' body, possibly killing him. It is widely accepted that Scales influence over his SharpClaw army diminished and they finally turned on him, as one of them holds up the General's belt in the games ending sequence. It is unknown what his species is, for he seems to be a mixture of a Sharpclaw and a Redeye.

Aparoid Queen

The Aparoid Queen (アパロイドマザー, Aparoido Mazā, Aparoid Mother) is the leader of the Aparoid race and the primary antagonist of Star Fox: Assault. From within the Homeworld, the Queen rules over the Aparoids like a queen bee over her hive; Beltino Toad determines that if the Queen is infected with a self-destruct program, then the rest of the Aparoids will die along with her. She has the ability to emulate personalities of people who are infected, or simply people close to her enemies. She emulates Peppy, Pigma, General Pepper, James McCloud, and ROB during the game. Star Fox make their way into the Queen's chamber, and infect the Queen with the self-destruct program. After weakening the Queen, the program takes effect, and the rest of the Aparoids are wiped out. She seems to take a somewhat peaceful approach when directly confronted, as she attempts to convince the Star Fox team to give in. She describes the assimilation as "not sacrifice, but evolution." However, she also believes that everything in the universe exists for the Aparoids (or herself).

She is voiced by Alésia Glidewell, who also voices Krystal.

Venomian Army

The Venomian Army (ベノム軍, Benomu Gun) (also known as the Androssians (アンドルフ軍, Andorufu Gun)) were the main army of the planet Venom which operates under Andross. Although most of the army was decimated by the Star Fox Team and the Cornerian Army, a small group of them were around when it came to the Aparoid invasion.

Anglar Empire

The Anglar Empire are a race of anglerfish-like creatures that reside in the Toxic Seas of Venom who first appear in Star Fox Command. It's implied in the Venom Level of the storyline "Fox and Krystal" that Emperor Anglar, as well as the entirety of the Anglar empire, were accidentally created by Andross through mutations caused by his experiments on Venom's oceans.

Emperor Anglar

Emperor Anglar (アングラー皇帝, Angurā Kōtei) is the leader of the Anglar race, and the primary antagonist of Star Fox Command. Originating on Venom, he appears as a final boss for several missions, and pilots a large serpent-like creature known as the Arrowhead. In some of the final missions, he becomes a very large angler fish, capable of taking the player's ship into his mouth, which is reminiscent of an attack frequently used by Andross in other games.

Octoman

Octoman (オクトマン, Okutoman) is an octopus-like creature from an unknown alien planet that is one of Emperor Anglar's henchmen.

He is based on the Octoman from the F-Zero franchise.

Zako

Zako is a hammerhead shark-like bounty hunter from an unknown alien planet. He is later killed in action within the Venom Sea.

Zazan

Zazan (ザザン) is an Anglar who led the attack on Corneria. He is later killed in action during the fight on Venom.

Zoldge

Zoldge (ゾルゲ, Zoruge) is a squid-like mercenary from an unknown world that pilots the Solar Satellite. He is later killed in action when the Solar Satellite is shot down.

Supporting characters

General Pepper

General Pepper (ペパー将軍, Pepā Shōgun) is the Commander-in-chief of the Cornerian Defense Forces. He originally exiles Andross to Venom, and hires the Star Fox team to investigate it five years later. Soon after, he becomes the primary source for the new Star Fox's missions. Pepper assigned the proposition for Star Fox to investigate Dinosaur Planet (Sauria) in Star Fox Adventures. During the Aparoid invasion in Star Fox: Assault, Pepper comes close to death when Aparoids fuse to him and his flagship. At the General's command, Fox hesitantly destroys the ship with Pepper still on board, and he is rescued by Peppy Hare. As time passes, Pepper grows ill and retires his position as General of the Cornerian Army. He passes this role on to his friend Peppy Hare, and is confined to his bed during Star Fox Command. In the Japanese version of Star Fox 64, he was voiced by the late Daisuke Gōri, and he is currently voiced by Michihiro Ikemizu. His name supposedly comes from "Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band." He is voiced by Rick May in Star Fox 64 and by Gray Eubank in Assault. General Pepper resembles a dog, but his breed is disputed. However he is described as a hound dog several times in the game. Panther Caroso mentioned that, "It's OK, the General's a tough old hound dog."

Bill Grey

Bill Grey (ビル・グレイ, Biru Gurei) is Fox's friend who appears to help him in Star Fox 64 and Star Fox Command. They were originally in training together in the Cornerian Flight Academy, and after Fox leaves to join Star Fox, Bill rises through the ranks and is elected commander of the Husky and Bulldog squadrons of Corneria. In both games, he assists Fox when Star Fox reaches Katina. Like General Pepper, Bill resembles a dog. The name of the character is a reference to General William Grey, from the 1996 blockbuster movie Independence Day.^{[citation needed]} The battle on Katina in Star Fox 64 also greatly resembles Independence Day.

Katt Monroe

Katt Monroe, known as Cat Monroe (キャット・モンロー, Kyatto Monrō) in Japanese language versions, is a lone fighter who comes to the aid of the Cornerian Defense Force and the Star Fox team. She appears in Star Fox 64 on the planet Zoness, and will either appear to defend the Great Fox in Sector Z, or shoot switches on Macbeth. She has a crush on Falco Lombardi, and she frequently lets him know about it, wishing to join Star Fox to be close to him. Katt returns in Star Fox Command. She appears in missions with Falco in the Asteroid Belt and Sector X. However, they have an argument in which Falco insults her and Katt vows to never help him again, though later in the storyline, she does say she "can't just sit and watch him from the sidelines." In Japanese, Katt is voiced Kyoko Tonguu. In English, she is voiced by Lyssa Browne. Katt resembles a cat, and first appears with pink fur in Star Fox 64, then re-appears in Star Fox Command with black fur. In the manga series, "Farewell Falco", Katt has somewhat of a romantic relationship with another cat with blue fur who's name is unknown. Though she somewhat implies she likes him, she still shows a liking for Falco.

Dinosaur Tribes

There are various Dinosaur Tribes that live on Sauria as seen in Star Fox Adventures:

• The CloudRunners are one of the two ruling tribes on Sauria. They are based on the Pteranodon.
• The EarthWalkers are one of the two ruling tribes on Sauria. The EarthWalkers are Ceratopsian Dinosaurs as they consists of Styracosaurus (which the King EarthWalker is based on), the Protoceratops (which the Queen EarthWalker is based on), the Centrosaurus (which Prince Tricky is based on), and the Triceratops (which the guards are based on).
• The HighTops are the largest Dinosaur Tribes on Sauria. The are based on the Apatosaurus.
• The LightFoots are a secret and recluse tribe on Sauria. Although the dinosaurs the LightFoots are based on is unknown, the Chief LightFoot has a frill similar to a Dilophosaurus. They live in the LightFoot Village between ThornTail Hollow and Cape Claw. The LightFoots don't interact with the other Dinosaur Tribes. They act like the Native Americans.
• The RedEyes are a tribe of carnivorous dinosaurs that are locked up in the Walled City on Sauria by the EarthWalkers. They are based on the Tyrannosaurus. They were released from the Walled City by General Scales.
• The ShadowHunters are a tribe of dinosaurs that are mostly seen in the Test of Fear. They evoke the appearances of the Velociraptor and the Struthiomimus.
• The SharpClaws are a race of humanoid Allosaurus that are more advanced and violent than the other Dinosaur Tribes. The SharpClaw originated from the second moon of Sauria, which crashed into the planet and became known as the Moon Mountain Pass. Eventually they left their home and spread all over Sauria.
• The SnowHorns are a race of Woolly Mammoths that reside in the SnowHorn Wastes.
• The ThornTails are a tribe of Dinosaurs that live in ThornTail Hollow on Sauria. They are based on the Nodosaurus.

When the Aparoids invaded Sauria during Star Fox Assault, some of the Dinosaur Tribes lost some of its members who fell in battle against the Aparoids.

Beltino Toad

Beltino Toad (ベルツィーノ・トード, Berutsīno Tōdo) is Slippy Toad's father, who works as the Research Director for the Cornerian Defense Forces. Beltino originally worked for Space Dynamics Co. Ltd. as an engineer. He and Slippy construct many inventions for the Star Fox team, including the Blue Marine and the Landmaster. Beltino is first mentioned in the Star Fox 64 Player's Guide, but does not make an in-game appearance until Star Fox: Assault, released eight years later. Beltino discovers the way to defeat the Aparoids, and eventually allows Star Fox to destroy them using a program he developed. In the Japanese version of Assault, Beltino Toad is voiced by Hirohiko Kakegawa, and his English voice actor is Scott Burns.

Amanda

Amanda (アマンダ, Amanda) is Slippy's fiancée, who first appears in Star Fox Command. They meet two years prior to the events of Star Fox Command, and instantly fall in love. Amanda occasionally helps the team out in various missions, and pilots the Tadpole (タッドポール, Taddopōru), a ship armed with a multi-lock. She considers herself more of the leader in her relationship with Slippy, and always wants to be on his side during a fight. In two endings, she and Slippy settle down with children, one of whom joins Fox and Krystal's son, Marcus McCloud, as well as Lucy Hare's daughter and Falco Lombardi himself in forming a new Star Fox team. In another ending, she herself joins the Star Fox team to be close to Slippy.

Cornerian Army

The Cornerian Army (コーネリア軍, Kōneria Gun), also known as the Cornerian Defense Force (コーネリア防衛軍, Kōneria Bōeigun), is one of the main military forces on Corneria. Their purpose is to protect Corneria and all of the Lylat System from all types of threats. Besides General Pepper, Captain Shears, and the generic soldiers, among the members of the Cornerian Army are:

Bill Grey

Dash Bowman

Dash Bowman, known as Ash Bowman (アッシュ・ボウマン, Asshu Bōman) in the Japanese version, is a monkey who is a young pilot for the Cornerian Army, as well as the grandson of Andross and cousin once removed to Andrew Oikonny. He thinks very highly of Fox and Falco, and wishes to join the Star Fox team. He makes his first appearance during the time the Anglars attacked in Star Fox Command. Despite his grandfather's dark ways, he still appreciates his grandfather's forgotten aspirations, and wishes to carry on his legacy of making Lylat a better place. However, Dash's true future remains uncertain. One of the endings shows him joining Falco and Katt to form the Star Falco team, while another two show him becoming ruler of Venom, one of which shows him becoming corrupt with power like Andross and the other has him converting Venom into a peaceful planet.

Lucy Hare

Lucy Hare (ルーシー・ヘア, Rūshī Hea) debuts in Star Fox Command, and is Peppy Hare's only daughter. Her mother, Vivian Hare (ビビアン・ヘア, Bibian Hea), died shortly after the Lylat Wars due to an illness. She is a bit of a tomboy, but is still very polite to her elders. Although pleased with her job as an astrophysics teacher on the planet Fichina, she does wish to become an expert pilot, like her father. It is said as well that she and Krystal are good friends. In some missions, she fights the Anglar attackers in her aircraft, the Sky Bunny (スカイバニー, Sukai Banī), armed with plasma lasers and a single lock. In one of the endings, her daughter becomes a member of the new Star Fox team, led by Marcus McCloud, who is Fox's son.

Reception

When reviewing Star Fox Adventures, GameSpot reviewer Greg Kasavin commented that the game has a "likable cast of characters who manage to be cute and pretty cool at the same time."
