Fiorina 'Fury' 161 (also called "Fiori 16") is the name of the fictitious planet on which the movie Alien³ of the Alien Series occurs. It is a barren, windswept world orbiting around a binary star system whose location is held secret by the Weyland-Yutani corporation for emergency reasons. Its position can be estimated to 19.5 light years from the Earth, hardly outside the border of the Galactic Nucleus.
Fiorina 161 is a lice-infested prison planet containing a "double-Y" chromosome maximum security facility built by Weyland-Yutani. The prison originally has an inmate count of over 5000, but after the Company tried to shut the facility down, 23 inmates and 2 wardens opted to stay behind, as custodians.
In 2179, an EEV unit containing the four survivors of the conflict at LV-426: Ellen Ripley, Newt, Corporal Hicks, and the Bishop android (see Aliens) crashed at the prison. After the crash an alien that was held in the ship was accidentally let loose in the facility, getting bred from prisoner Murphy's dog.
The prison was shut down within 24 hours when the alien was destroyed, Ripley died, and all the prisoners except for Morse were killed.
In the film Alien: Resurrection, Fiorina 161 is twice erroneously referred to as "Fiorina 16".
